In Ubuntu 9.04 all you have to do is to go to Telia's site ( https://cve.trust.telia.com/testa/ ), and fallow the instructions to install the software. For older versions of Ubuntu ( 8.10 - 6.10 ) please read on.
I assume that your system is up and running online and that you are using Mozilla FireFox 2.0.0.x, installed Jave 6 and Net iD.
Some may have had some problems with the Swedish "E-legitimation" (E-ID), in Ubuntu 7.10 (have not tested this in older versions), you simply don't et a password pop-up.
This is the solution (or worked for me, in Gutsy and java 6):
The problem lie in: Java 6.
You need to open and edit this file:
/etc/environment
and add:
AWT_TOOLKIT="MToolkit"
ex. sudo gedit /etc/environment
save + close, and you need to reboot.
